One engineering business behind eleven sectors
ITC has worked across the North East of Scotland and globally since 1999, designing and building new equipment, repairing and refurbishing equipment already in service, and supplying the parts that keep it running. The company began as an on-site hydraulic service to the offshore, subsea, agricultural, mobile and industrial sectors, and has been headquartered in a purpose-built facility outside Oldmeldrum since 2012.
Over 500 hydraulic power units have been built since then, from 2.2kW to 220kW, for everything from a workshop bench to a road bridge, along with winches and spoolers for marine and fishery applications and a great deal besides.
What changes between one sector and the next is the duty, the environment and the standard the equipment has to meet. The design office, the machine shop, the fabrication bay and the test rigs are the same ones.

How a job runs
The same route in every sector
Enquiry
Send a drawing, a specification, or a photograph of what has gone wrong. ITC’s engineering department reviews it and comes back with what is involved.
Design or assessment
New equipment is drawn and analysed in Inventor before a part is cut. Existing equipment is stripped and assessed before a repair is quoted.
Build, repair or supply
Machining, fabrication, hydraulic and electrical assembly all happen in-house, or the part comes off the shelf, or a rental unit goes out.
Test and support
Function testing, certification and documentation under ITC’s DNV accredited quality system, then installation and commissioning on site where it is needed.

Case study · Casing Jack Project
Hotshot deployed, used and back inside three days
A UK oil and gas operator was carrying out an ESP completion change out on a long reach well in the southern UK land sector, and was concerned the hoist on the workover rig did not have the strength to unseat the packer. ITC was contacted to see whether its casing jack could be deployed quickly for that part of the operation.
The jack is capable of a 500 tonne pull, far in excess of the estimated 110 tonne unseating force. ITC’s engineering department reviewed the rig substructure and determined the support beams needed to transfer the load. With no time to source the right bushing and slips, ITC removed the integrated back-saver system and used the top plates from a wellhead tension table to support the rig pipe elevators. The client wanted to run the jack off the rig’s own HPU, so a new control stand was made to interface with it, with a pressure limiting circuit added to avoid overloading the substructure.
The casing jack was hotshot deployed and returned, after the client had successfully unseated the packer, within three days.
Accreditation
ITC has been an ISO 9001 accredited company since 2012. In 2018 ITC passed UKAS accreditation by DNV-GL for its Integrated Management System, covering Quality (ISO 9001:2015), Environment (ISO 14001:2015) and Health & Safety (ISO 45001). Work in every one of these sectors is controlled through that system, whether the job is a repair in the yard or a new build for an offshore programme.

Which sectors does ITC work in?

ITC designs and builds new equipment, repairs and refurbishes equipment already in service, and supplies parts across all of them.
Does ITC only work in oil and gas?
No. Oil and gas has been a significant area of activity because ITC is based in the Aberdeen area, but the same workshop builds winches and spoolers for marine and fishery work, services agricultural machinery through the planting and harvesting seasons, and supports renewables, construction, waste management and MOD work.
Does ITC work outside the North East of Scotland?
Yes. ITC has worked in the North East of Scotland and globally. Equipment is designed and built at Oldmeldrum and St Katherines, and engineers work on site wherever the equipment is.
Can ITC work on agricultural machinery?
Yes. ITC services and repairs agricultural machinery and supplies parts for it, including through the planting and harvesting seasons.
Can ITC build equipment for hazardous areas?
Yes. ITC has ATEX build capability, and its own rental fleet includes units rated for ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2, so hydraulic and electrical equipment can be specified for classified areas.
