Capability
Bespoke design, then built, assembled and tested in-house
Where design and project management covers how ITC plans and controls a build, design and manufacturing is where the design becomes hardware. ITC’s in-house design team works to DNV and NORSOK compliance from the outset, using the Inventor CAD package and FE analysis to prove a bespoke design before a single part is cut.
Manufacturing then draws on ITC’s own capability under one roof: 3D milling and lathe equipment for precision components, combined with in-house fabrication for structures in a wide range of materials, including stainless steel.
Every build is assembled and function tested at ITC’s own facilities before it leaves.
That approach has delivered equipment ranging from a 500 tonne capacity casing jack, engineered and deployed for an urgent well intervention, to the Combi-Reeler®, a combined HPU and umbilical reeler designed, built and function tested in six weeks to meet a fixed vessel sailing date.

What ITC manufactures
Equipment designed and built by ITC
Alongside bespoke equipment built to a client’s brief, ITC has named products of its own, including the Combi-Reeler® and OilArmour®.

Combined HPU and reeler packages
The Combi-Reeler®, an HPU and umbilical reeler in one skid, halving the deck footprint.

Hydraulic power units
Workshop through to offshore HPUs, built and function tested in-house.

Winch and spooler packages
Winches and spoolers built for marine, fishery and subsea use.

Decommissioning equipment
ITC’s own in-house designed conductor and casing removal jack, rated to a 500 tonne pull.

Stainless steel skid packages
Skid mounted systems fabricated in stainless steel and assembled in-house.

Hydraulic control systems
ATEX certified control panels built into DNV framed packages.
How a build runs
From compliance brief to function tested equipment
Brief
Requirements captured with the client, including the standards the equipment has to meet, such as DNV or NORSOK.
Design
Bespoke design in Inventor with FE analysis, proven before manufacture starts.
Manufacture
Machining and fabrication in-house, with steel and components sourced during the design phase so there is no delay waiting on parts.
Assemble and test
Assembly and full operational function testing at ITC’s facilities before delivery.

Case study · Combi-Reeler®
Half the deck footprint, in half the usual delivery time
A global Tier 1 asset integrity solutions provider needed to reduce the equipment footprint on the back of a vessel due to embark on a multi-service decommissioning project in the North Sea. The solution had to be delivered in six weeks to make the contracted vessel sailing time, half the standard delivery time for conventional equipment.
ITC’s engineering team proposed combining the HPU and the umbilical reeler in the same skid, which halved the deck footprint, removed the safety hazards of the interconnecting hoses and reduced the manpower needed to operate it. A dedicated project team was created, and experience from previously manufactured separately skidded systems fed the design of the new combined package. A project plan detailed every key manufacturing milestone, and the design was kept live against those milestones so it could accommodate the limited component availability that could be sourced in the time frame.
The new combined HPU and reeler was designed, built and function tested within the required six weeks and delivered to the client’s vessel. It has since performed a number of operations on the project without incident, with the decommissioning delivery team giving very positive feedback on its performance.

Accreditation

ITC has been an ISO 9001 accredited company since 2012. In 2018 ITC passed UKAS accreditation by DNV-GL for its Integrated Management System, covering Quality (ISO 9001:2015), Environment (ISO 14001:2015) and Health & Safety (ISO 45001). All design and manufacturing work is controlled through that system, whether the job is a one-off bespoke build or a full production run to an approved drawing.

Common questions
Design and manufacturing questions, answered
What standards does ITC design to?
ITC’s in-house design team works to DNV and NORSOK compliance, using the Inventor CAD package and FE analysis.
Is manufacturing done in-house?
Yes. Machining and fabrication are both ITC’s own, under one roof, so components and structures do not wait on an external supplier.
Is equipment tested before delivery?
Yes. Every build is assembled and fully function tested at ITC’s facilities before it leaves.
How quickly can a bespoke build be delivered?
It depends on the equipment, but the Combi-Reeler was designed, built and function tested in six weeks, half the standard delivery time for conventional equipment, to meet a fixed vessel sailing date.
Does ITC have products of its own?
Yes. The Combi-Reeler, a combined HPU and umbilical reeler, and OilArmour, alongside bespoke equipment built to a client’s brief.
Can ITC build from drawings we already have?
Yes. ITC can manufacture to your design, or the in-house design team can draw up plans to your requirements.
